Dialysis
Kidney dialysis at the Purple House, close to home, so people can stay on Country instead of moving to town for treatment.
Treatment on the homelands
The Purple House opened at Amengernterneah in 2020. It gives dialysis to up to six people. It sits next to our main clinic, and the two teams work closely together.
The most important thing: people on dialysis can keep living in their homeland communities. Without it they would have to move to Alice Springs for treatment, away from family, language and the places they are responsible for. Being able to stay is good for health too.
Diabetes and kidney health
We support people living with diabetes (type 1 and type 2), and people with kidney disease (renal disease).
Kidney care links closely with our ongoing care at the clinic and our health promotion out on the homelands. The things that protect kidneys (good food, being active, healthy blood pressure, finding problems early) also keep people well in general.
